Cameron's Eulogy at his Great Grandma's Funeral - 26 July 2016

Created by Melanie 7 years ago
Good Afternoon,

Like all of you, I have wonderful and fond memories of my Grandma Jean. A big smile always comes to my face when I think about her taking me to the cinema, and despite her best efforts, she would end up snoring at a suspenseful moment in the film.

Like all of you, I knew my Grandma Jean to be very kind, loving, and generous. We had fun days going to parks, even finding a cuddly squirrel, which I still have today. Our trips to Blackpool were some of the best times. The illuminations continue to glow within me.

I look forward to sharing my stories with you about my Grandma Jean, and I look forward to hearing your stories about her as well. However, at this time, I would like to speak to my Grandma Jean while I am in your presence. I have things I would like to tell her, which I was unable to share with her when she was with us.Dear Grandma Jean, I am so sad that I cannot say these things to you directly. I hope that my words will be carried to you within the hearts of those who are here today, as we celebrate the joy you brought to our lives, while shouldering the sorrow we now feel.

I am terribly sorry that we didn’t see each other in recent times. I missed you greatly. I love you dearly and you will be forever in my thoughts. I hope that you are at peace and that you are in the arms of Grandad and Sandra.

I know that I cannot change the past, but I can change the present and the future. I am going to carry your kindness, your love, and your generosity into my relationships. I am going to be sure that I never drift apart from those I love. I hope you can feel the love that I have for you.

Peace be with you Grandma Jean, and Peace be with all of you for sharing in my prayer.
